The Rainbow Bridge

There is a bridge connecting, heaven and earth.
It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of its many colors.
Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge there is a land of meadows,
Hills and valleys with lush green grass.
When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place.
There is always food, water and warm spring weather.
The old and frail animals are young again.
Those who are maimed are made whole.
They play together all day.
There is only one thing missing:
They are not with their special person who loved them on earth.
Each day they run and play until the day comes.
When one suddenly stops and looks up!
The nose twitches! The ears are up! The eyes are staring!
And this one suddenly runs from the group.
You have been seen, and when you and your special friend meet,
You take him or her into your arms and embrace.
Your face is kissed again and again,
And you look once more into the eyes of your trusting friend.
Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together,
Never again to be separated.

All Dogs Go To Heaven

All dogs go to heaven, this surely must be.
For they’re not as selfish as you or me.
They don’t hold a grudge, but are loyal and true.
Forgiving us mortals for all that we do.
Somehow I feel my dog I’ll meet.
Romping someday on Heaven’s street.
For if love counts and if God is fair,
Our faithful dogs will all be there.

You’re Pet in Heaven

To have loved and then said farewell, is better than to have never loved at all.
For all the times that you have stopped and touched my head, fed me my favorite treat and returned the love that I so unconditionally gave to you.
For the care that you gave to me so unselfishly, for all of these things I am grateful and thankful.
I ask that you not grieve for the loss, but rejoice in the fact that we lived, loved and touched each others lives.
My life was fuller because you were there, not as a master or owner, but as my friend.
Today I am as I was in my youth.
The grass is always green, butterflies flit among the flowers and the sun shines gently down upon all of God’s creatures.
I can run, jump, play and do all of the things that I did in my youth.
There is no sickness, no aching joints, no regrets and no aging.
We await the arrival of our lifelong companions and know that togetherness is forever.
You live in our hearts as we do in yours.
Companions such as you are so rare and unique.
Don’t hold the love that you have within yourself.
Give it to another like me and then I will live forever.
For love really never dies and you are loved and missed as surely as we are.

Grieve Not

Grieve not, nor speak of me with tears,
But laugh and talk of me as if I were beside you.
I loved you so ‘Twas heaven here with you.

If Tomorrow Starts Without Me

If tomorrow starts without me, and I’m not there to see,
If the sun should rise and find your eyes all filled with tears for me.
I wish so much you wouldn’t cry the way you did today,
While thinking of the many things, we didn’t get to say.
I know how much you love me as much as I love you
And each time that you think of me, I know you’ll miss me too.
But when tomorrow starts without me, please try to understand,
That an angel came and called my name, and took me by the hand.
He said my place was ready, in heaven far above,
And that I’d have to leave behind all those that I dearly love.
But as I turned to walk away, a tear fell from my eye,
For all my life I’d always thought, I didn’t want to die.
I had so much to live for, so much left yet to do,
It seemed almost impossible that I was leaving you.
I thought of all the yesterdays, the good ones and the bad,
I thought of all that we shared, and all the fun we had.
If I could relive yesterday, just even for a while,
I’d say good bye and kiss you and maybe see you smile.
But then I fully realized that this could never be,
For emptiness and memories would take the place of me.
And when I thought of worldly things, I might miss some tomorrow;
I thought of you and when I did, my heart was filled with sorrow.
But when I walked through heavens gates I felt so much at home,
When God looked down and smiled at me from his great golden throne
He said this is eternity, and all I’ve promised you,
Today your life on earth is past, but here life starts anew.
I promise no tomorrow, but today will always last,
And since each day is the same way, there’s no longing for the past.
So when tomorrow starts without me, don’t think were far apart,
For every time you think of me, I’m right here in your heart.

Memories are Golden

They say memories are golden,
Well maybe that is true.
I never wanted memories,
I only wanted you.
A million times I needed you,
A million times I cried.
If love alone could have saved you,
You never would have died.
In life I loved you dearly,
In death I love you still.
In my heart you hold a place,
No one could ever fill.
If tears could build a stairway and heartache make a lane,
I’d walk a path to heaven and bring you back again.
Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same,
But as GOD calls us one by one, the chain will link again.

When I Come To The End Of The Road

When I come to the end of the road and the sun has set for me,
I want no rites in a gloom-filled room, why cry for a soul set free.
Miss me a little, but not to long and not with your head bowed low,
Remember the love that we once shared, miss me, but let me go.
For this is a journey that we all must take and each must go alone,
It’s all part of the masters plan, a step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick of heart, go to the friends we know,
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds, miss me, but let me go.
