Not only was Katherine
forced to make the decision to euthanise her beloved pet, she also had to
deal with a means of pet disposition and the grief that followed. Once she decided on separate cremation,
she questioned how this was to be handled and when she could anticipate
the return of Duffy's cremated remains. She became unsettled about the process and
procedures when answers to her questions were vague and she was
denied a tour of the facility.
Becoming suspicious of what was actually
taking place, Katherine made an uninvited visit to the facility and
decided that day she would do something to insure that others didn't have
to experience what she did when their beloved pet died.
Today her company offers dignified and
respectful pickup, transport, cremation and disposal throughout
Arizona, with memorial products available nationwide. PALS facility is
open to veterinarians, businesses, profit & not for profit groups as well
as the general public. She also has
contracts with various municipalities for the removal of deceased
pets and animals.
Katherine was with the
inception of the Pet Grief Support Service founded by the Companion Animal
Association of Arizona (CAAA) in 1987. She has worked as a facilitator,
coordinator and volunteer on the Service's hotline.
